“The major social responsibility of Central SOEs is poverty alleviation.” SDIC Chairman Wang Huisheng said in his keynote speech in the forum.
On October 17th, the 5th National Day for Poverty Alleviation, Central SOE Poverty Alleviation Forum was held in Beijing. Deputy Minister of SASAC Xu Fushun attended the forum and delivered a speech. Officials from SASAC and Poverty Alleviation Office of the State Council, as well as over representatives from over 100 central SOEs attended the forum. SDIC Chairman Wang Huisheng delivered a keynote speech upon invitation.
SDIC sticks to the idea of poverty alleviation through innovative ways. It established the first trust product aiming at poverty alleviation. It carried out medical poverty alleviation activities in its targeted poverty alleviation counties such as Pingtang county and Luodian county in Guizhou. It held six labour service export affairs to organize local farmer for overseas work and training by establishing the charity fund for poverty relief employment.
SDIC gave full play to the guiding role of state-owned investment companies. General-Secretary pointed out that the basic way for poverty relief was the development of local industries. SDIC had taken the lead to earmark 2 billion yuan to establish two poverty relief funds, exploring ways of helping local industries through fund management. By far, the two fund had pried over 150 billion yuan social capital to help the local industries.
Wang Huisheng pointed out that central SOEs should do work in three aspects for poverty relief. Firstly, there should be a sound mechanism. Secondly, there should be enough efforts to ensure that those poverty-stricken people would return to poverty again for any reason. Thirdly, central SOEs should help the sustainable development
In the round-table dialogue afterwards, people attending the conference sit together to discuss how to do a better job in poverty relief work.
